I finally decided it was time to enter the world on August 7, 2007 at 5:36 pm, screaming and covered in a variety of different goos. For my parents, it was love at first sight. That is, if love can possibly begin to explain the overwhelming feeling that washed over the them the moment I arrived. After my terrific journey, I was handed off to the nurses to be de-gunked and was given a clean bill of health. I was then given to quite possibly the proudest Daddy to ever live.
Mommy watched excitedly as Daddy held me with Granny hovering nearby, waiting patiently for her turn. She was next to hold me as Pa Paw and Uncle Jeff waited outside the door. Once they were allowed in, Pa Paw had his turn, sitting in the rocking chair with me the both of us content as can be. Finally, Mommy had her turn to hold me, staring at me in disbelief. 'Could this be real?' she thought to herself as the nurses flitted around the room in a frenzy before taking me to the nursery to get my shots and tests.
After they were done poking and prodding me, I met Mommy in her postpartum room. We were met with a variety of different visitors all complimenting my good looks, Grandma Vicki, Gigi, Aunt Kimmy and Cousin Tatum, as well as Great Aunts Randi and Toni. They all brought such fantastic gifts! Soon, everyone but Granny and Daddy had to leave, giving the three of them ample time to spend holding and staring at me.
Soon, Daddy and Granny had to leave as well, leaving Mommy and I alone well into the night. Mommy told me all about how excited she and Daddy were that I was finally here, and about how they spent so much time getting ready for me to be here. It was dark and comfy in Mommy's room and we spent lots of time cuddling together.
Eventually the nurses had to take me back to the nursery, but not before I had a serious case of the hiccups!
It really was an exciting day and I was really tired after everything that happened. Mommy didn't want to say goodbye to me, but I could tell that she was really sleepy too. We're both very lucky that we'll have plenty of time to spend together.
